Welcome to West Central Region!
With a history and a landscape shaped by numerous rivers and lakes, West Central Saskatchewan has a wealth of exciting and educational activities on offer. North Battleford lies across the North Saskatchewan River from Battleford (collectively the two are known as The Battlefords) and these, along with the border city of Lloydminster, are the largest centres in the region featuring events and attractions such as the Fort Battleford National Historic Site, the Fred Light Museum and Lloydminster Colonial Days. Information on Louis Riel and the 1885 Metis Rebellion and other First Nations history and culture is on display at places such as the Duck Lake Regional Information Centre, the Batoche National Historic Site near Rosthern and at Chief Poundmaker Historical Centre in Cutknife. Both Danielson Provincial Park near Loreburn and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park in Kyle contain sections of the huge Lake Diefenbaker, which offers sandy beaches, fishing, water sports, camping and much more. Similar activities can be enjoyed at Blackstrap Provincial Park near Dundurn and on Jackfish Lake, located in Battlefords Provincial Park near Cochin.
