The Southwest
Region of Saskatchewan, or Cowboy Country as it's called, offers a blend of natural beauty
and endless open spaces. Several smaller towns and communities make up the region
with Moose Jaw and Swift
Current being major city centres. Visit national, provincial and regional
parks and enjoy camping, hiking, wildlife viewing and more. The unique Cypress
Hills Interprovincial Park is located in both Saskatchewan
and Alberta, offering
panoramic views of the prairies from its forested hills. Situated in the Frenchman
River Valley, the Grasslands
National Park is a wildlife destination, filled with a variety of common and
endangered species. Lake
Diefenbaker and its surrounding area offers fishing, hunting and boating opportunities
including three parks: Saskatchewan
Landing, Danielson
and Douglas
Provincial Parks. Explore the badlands, located in the community of Eastend
or Dino Country, home to the T.
Rex Discovery Centre and travel to the Great Sand Hills in Leader
to see the active sand dunes. Saskatchewan's Southwest Region offers dynamic landscapes,
attractions and activities, making it a prime, prairie destination.
